A few years ago, many pegged Maino as the next major hip hop star. Building his fan base on the mixtape scene, hip hop was ready for a new breed of talent. The fact Maino hailed from Brooklyn led to many anointing him the next “King of New York.” Titles have never gotten to Maino, as he has always tried to be the best artist possible.

In terms of popularity, Maino is not as popular as French Montana and other newcomers from the New York City area. Despite having a position in the game, many wonder what position Maino holds. Even in the short years of his run, hip hop has changed. In the current hip hop landscape, Maino is definitely a rare breed. During his interview with Vlad TV, Maino discussed this.
