Emerging when New York City was shifting out of the hip hop scope, Maino managed to hold it down. Early in his career, Maino was predicted as the next major artist from the city. In the end, that wasn’t his fate, but Maino was there for his city.

Despite being an elder, Maino is still very current and still releasing tons of music. He has been active for his city and in the Black Lives Matter movement. His efforts have not been overlooked in Brooklyn, the place where he declared himself king.

The City of Brooklyn has decided to honor Maino, giving him a real title that relates to hip hop. As he prepares his next King of Brooklyn title, he received a major honor. He was named the “Hip Hop Ambassador of Brooklyn” by city officials.
