Most rappers get known due to their internet exposure. This was the case with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Natives of Seattle, they burst onto the scene with “Thrift Shop,” which went viral. However, they would be overshadowed by PSY when it came to overall viral success, but Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have their movement.
Before them, the mainstream was not focused on the Seattle hip hop scene. By far, they are not internet one hit wonders. Recently, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have enjoyed success from their “Can’t Hold Us.” Featured on the Microsoft commercial, the world hears “Can’t Hold Us” daily.
Ray Dalton does the hook on “Can’t Hold Us,” an inspirational tune from the duo. Finding more success, in a short time after receiving their last plaque, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are platinum, once again. Currently, “Can’t Hold Us” is sitting at number two on the charts that are Billboard Hot 100.
