One of the reasons Mac Miller rose to fame was due to his mixtape success. Sticking out among a number of other mixtape rappers, Mac Miller’s appreciation for the old school is what helped him gain fame. Lord Finesse is among the rappers Mac Miller looked up to growing up, but things would eventually turn sour.

Back in July, Lord Finesse filed a $10 million lawsuit against Mac Miller for using one of his songs on a mixtape without authorization from him. “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza” is one of the biggest Mac Miller’s mixtape songs. The song samples Lord Finesse’s “Hip 2 Da Game” and the veteran was angered because Mac Miller built a name off him.

Artists tend to put some of their best work on mixtapes, which are typically given out for free on the internet. But, due to Mac Miller and Lord Finesse, many have begun treating their mixtapes a bit differently. Last night, however, the two reached a settlement that could redefine the mixtape game as it is currently known.
