Most rappers come under fire for refusing to acknowledge history. Imagine the shock that Mac Miller received when he found himself sued for doing so. Unlike most new generation artists, Mac Miller incorporates old school beats into his music. Doing this landed him on the business end of a lawsuit from Lord Finesse.
On his K.I.D.S. mixtape, Mac Miller sampled Lord Finesse’s “Hip 2 Da Game.” After leaking this mixtape, Mac Miller rose to become a household name. Despite giving the project away as a free release, Lord Finesse sued Mac Miller for $10 million. Lord Finesse filed the suit because Mac Miller gained fame off his music.
While he cannot say much about the situation, Mac Miller released a statement to Complex, saying he does not feel as if he is at fault. Earlier today, Mac Miller reached a settlement with Lord Finesse. Mac Miller said their situation has been resolved without going to trial.
