Lil Wayne to perform tribute to dance/electronica at 54th Grammy Awards

Cash Money Records will be live and in effect at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Their recent string of success was started by Lil Wayne releasing a series of hit records. Lil Wayne’s success as a solo artist helped him introduce the artists on his Young Money roster. Drake and Nicki Minaj have become highly successful artists in their own right, with Nicki Minaj being nominated for three Grammy awards.

In recent years, Lil Wayne has branched out of hip hop music. When he first announced Rebirth, Lil Wayne said it would be a rock album. “Prom Queen,” the lead single from the album, was a rock-inspired ballad, but the album featured mixtures of all type of music. Still, Lil Wayne has experimented with other genres, most recently country with “How to Love.”

Lil Wayne will continue this trend at the 54th Grammy Awards with his performance. The Young Money leader will take the stage with Chris Brown, David Guetta, Foo Fighters, and deadmau5. They will take the stage for a performance dedicated to dance/electronica. Their performance will take place in outdoors in a tent connected to the Staples’ Center.

Nicki Minaj is not the only artist from the Young Money/Cash Money roster nominated for multiple Grammys, as Lil Wayne is up for awards in Best Rap Performance on Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now,” alongside Busta Rhymes, Best Rap Album with Tha Carter IV, two Best Rap/Sung Collaborations with DJ Khaled’s “I’m on One,” with Drake, and Kelly Rowland’s “Motivation,” and Best Rap Song, also for “Look At Me Now,” with Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes.
