Last weekend, Lil Wayne made headlines after he sold his masters to Universal Music Group for $100 million. This then sparked debates on social media of why he had issues with Birdman and Cash Money over the years.

According to Music Business Worldwide, there is more information coming out of this deal that Wayne made with Universal. Fellow Young Money artists Drake and Nicki Minaj’s masters were reportedly sold as well. Drake’s material here was pre-2018. This was done this past June. All of Drake’s projects up until his 2018 ‘Scorpion’ album were included. Universal has all of Minaj’s albums as well as possibly upcoming ones as well. The entire Young Money catalogue was sold which means Tyga’s music was in it, too.

In addition to the $100 masters deal, Wayne also trended on social media last weekend after he plead guilty to federal gun charges. This is in regards to a December 2019 incident where Wayne had a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammo in it. This was found while he was on a private jet at Miami-Opa Locka Executive.

Wayne plead guilty in an attempt to avoid the possibility of spending 10 years in prison. He was already convicted convicted of a felony gun charge in New York back in 2009.
