Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” Single Already Goes Gold After Releasing Controversial Music Video For It Where He Twerked on Satan and Put Out Nike Air Max 97 “Satan Shoes”

Lil Nas X has definitely been one of the biggest trending topics on social media over the last two weeks. He put out his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” single along with the music video for it. The visuals received a lot of backlash due to Nas X being seen twerking on Satan.

Nas X also put out his Nike Air Max 97 “Satan Shoes” with MSCHF. This wasn’t authorized by Nike though as they soon handed down MSCHF a trademark infringement lawsuit. Nas X wasn’t listed as a defended but was definitely frustrated that the sales of the shoes were halted by a judge.

Many expected Montero to do very well on the charts and with streams due to the controversy that Nas X has been causing. That was definitely the case as it’s No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is now at gold status. It will be certified gold by the RIAA after selling over 500,000 units, according to Chart Data.

The music video on YouTube has also amassed almost 107 million views and counting. This record is also Nas X’s second No. 1 song as the previous on was his breakout “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus in the spring of 2019.
