Lil Nas X’s Chart-Topping “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” Single Reaches Platinum Eligibility

Lil Nas X has been back to trending heavily on social media since the of March and that was due to the release of his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” single. The music video is what brought controversy to the record though due to Nas X being seen twerking on Satan. He then put out his Nike Air Max 97 “Satan Shoes” with MSCHF, but the sales were shut down legally by Nike.

Montero continues to have a lot of momentum though as now, it has reached platinum eligibility by the RIAA in the US, according to Chart Data. This is after selling over 1 million units. At the time of its release, Montero also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Currently, Montero stands at No. 2, right behind Polo G’s “Rapstar.” Even with all of the controversy, Nas X continues to show that he is far from a one-hit wonder and is actually a star. This summer, he also plans to put out his debut studio album, “Montero The Album.”

The release of Montero also came off the success that Nas X had in the winter with his “Holiday” single. That went on to go platinum as well. It was a long wait for new music for fans of Nas X as the last material he gave fans was his “7” EP in the summer of 2019. That was the same year that he turned into a star with his breakout hit single, “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
