Lil Durk Says He’ll Buy “O Block” Area of Chicago After Latest Report That Its Housing Projects’ 694 Apartments Are Listed For Sale

Chicago has some of the hottest rappers out right now such as Lil Durk, Polo G, and last year, the late King Von. Artists such as Durk and Von come from the area of the city which feature the Parkway Gardens apartments, also popularly known as “O Block.”

These apartment buildings are located between 63rd and 65th streets but now, all 649 apartments are being put up for sale, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Federal housing authorities are putting in cheaper cost of living prices but many are skeptical to buy these apartments due to a lot of crime taking place there.

“The residents deserve better,” said Jennifer Maddox, a Chicago police officer that runs a nonprofit in Parkway Gardens. “And the violence on the property overshadows the good things and the residents who are working hard and doing the things they need to do. So it’s frustrating for them because they get a bad rap just for living there.”

Now, Durk is stepping up and is offering to buy all of these apartments to prevent them from being sold. On Twitter, the Chicago star just said moments ago “I’ll buy it don’t matter how much it is.” It’ll be interesting to see if Durk does get an offer presented to him soon.

Durk has since been one of the most dominant artists of the past year. He had a smash hit in 2020 with “3 Headed GOAT” feat. Lil Baby and Polo G. He also put out his “Just Cause Y’all Waited 2” project, which was a top two debut on the Billboard 200 chart. Durk also appeared on Drake’s hit single, “Laugh Now Cry Later” that August. Currently, he is also buzzing due to his feature on Pooh Shiesty’s breakout hit single, “Back In Blood.”
