After the failure that was the Aaliyah movie, fans did not expect much from Lifetime in terms of biopics. When it was announced that Lifetime was doing a Whitney Houston biopic, the fans immediately rejected it. It was soon revealed that Angela Bassett would be directing the film.
Immediately, Angela Bassett received backlash for signing on to be a part of the film. But, she explained to Sway that she had a personal relationship with Whitney Houston. Still, fans were skeptical about the upcoming film.
Tonight, the Whitney Houston biopic aired and the results of it were much better than the Aaliyah movie. The fans immediately took to Twitter with praise, outright saying this movie was better than the Aaliyah movie from November.
