Love & Hip Hop: Miami‘s Sukihana is not afraid to be herself, but she thinks other people have had a problem with it.
Although everyone seems to love loud, up-in-your-face personality, she hasn’t gotten the same reaction when it comes to the color of her skin.
During tonight’s episode of the hit VH1 series, Sukihana revealed that she sometimes feels as though she’s overlooked in the music industry for women of lighter tone.
Now, we’re all no stranger to colorism in the business, and with Sukihana being of darker complexion, we can see why sis would feel that way.
Look at the Nicki Minajs and the Megan thee Stallions. The two have reached a mega amount of success. And, although both considered a shade of “brown,” the darker you are the harder… unfortunately.
On the flip side, as a light-skinned woman, Miami Tip says she has seen her share of struggles, having to “prove her blackness.”
Some agreed with Sukihana, while others argued that it isn’t Sukihana’s color that has gotten her nowhere, it’s her music and attitude.
What do you think?
