It seems like Lee Daniels is having the worst week ever, but all of this has been a long time coming. First put on the map, in 2009, with Precious, Lee Daniels paid his dues. Unfortunately, Daniels did not pay Damon Dash the money he owed him.
Dash went through well-documented legal woes, asking Lee Daniels for his money, several times. Instead of coming through, Daniels gave him the runaround. Eventually, he landed a production deal with FOX, giving birth to “Empire” and “STAR.”
Over the weekend, “STAR” was cancelled, and “Empire” followed suit, this afternoon. The news came after news of “Empire” being renewed for season six. Adding to this, Damon Dash’s exes have come together, suing Daniels for $1 million, since Dash won’t give them a portion of the money he received from Daniels paying him.
