Kodak Black Could Be Out Of Prison and Into a Halfway House By 2021 If He Finishes 500-Hour Drug Treatment Program He Is Attending; Currently in 46-Month Sentence

Yesterday, Kodak Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, announced that the rapper had three felony counts of possession of a firearm by an individual under 24 dropped. If these charges stood, they would’ve meant 15 years in prison. He is currently in prison for 46 months after being arrested at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami in May of 2019 for falsifying information on gun applications and attempting to buy ammo and guns from a Florida store on two separate occasions.

These charges were dropped so that Kodak could go to a lower-security prison to attend a drug treatment program. A rep for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office says that Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle dropped these charges because she felt that the state “were a duplicate of the federal charges for which [Kodak Black] had already been convicted and is currently serving his sentence.”

Cohen now says that Kodak is now eligible to spend the last year of his sentence in a halfway house and could be eligible to head to a halfway house by 2021, per TMZ. The drug treatment program must be completed though as it lasts for 500 hours.
