Many veterans have broken their rule about not working with newcomers when it came to Kendrick Lamar. Everything Drake wanted to accomplish in his debut run is what took  place for Kendrick Lamar, including the features. Just when everyone thought Kendrick was done, he turned up a little more and featured Jay-Z on “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.”

Evenly matched is Jay-Z, but most who consider themselves “real” hip hop fans consistently choose Nas over him. Of course Kendrick Lamar looked up to Jay-Z, but he dreamed of having Nas on good kid, m.A.A.d. city. “Sing for Me” is the track Kendrick wanted to have Nas on.

During his interview with VIBE, Kendrick Lamar spoke on wanting to do a track with Nas for his debut album. While Kendrick Lamar did not get a Nas collaboration, he did receive a major co-sign from him. Both rappers named each other’s albums as 2012’s best albums. However, Kendrick Lamar did get Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and more to appear on his debut album and his first set of songs.
