Just like it was yesterday, most hip hop fans remember Kendrick Lamar last year, as he prepared good kid, m.A.A.d. city. A bit nervous, Kendrick Lamar soon transformed into the biggest artist in the game. Delivering a powerful album, while those expected to have major releases came up short, made Kendrick Lamar into a powerhouse.
Kendrick Lamar, unlike many other rappers, chose to give people a break from him before he releases his next album. Yes, technically, good kid, m.A.A.d. city is a follow-up to 2011’s Section.80, but a 2013 Kendrick Lamar album is highly unlikely. All is good, though, as Kanye West and J. Cole dropped albums.
MTV News recently caught up with Kendrick Lamar and they talked about a number of various topics. In the latest installment, Kendrick Lamar talked about Kanye West’s new album, Yeezus. Kendrick Lamar admitted he did not initially understand Kanye West’s direction with the project. As he listened to the album more, he began to understand it.
