Prominent on the “New West” hip hop scene is Los Angeles’ Kendrick Lamar, who happens to be the current focal point of Interscope Records. There are several other rappers from this new hip hop scene who have changed the dynamics of the game. But, at the forefront is Kendrick Lamar, fresh off his good kid, m.A.A.d. city debut album.

Kendrick Lamar was born and raised in Compton, so hip hop was in him. Few may know this, but he actually was present at the “California Love” video shoot with Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre, his future boss. It was then when the good kid from the mad city decided to fully pursue rap.

Impressing everyone, Kendrick Lamar earned rave reviews for his album. Kendrick Lamar spoke to The Rickey Smiley Morning Show about this. Game and Shyne’s feud, which started over Kendrick Lamar was also discussed. In response to this, Kendrick Lamar said he is glad his music can inspire such debates.
