Out West, there is much new energy and Kendrick Lamar managed to harness this energy to his advantage. Years went by without a new West Coast rap star emerging, post-Death Row. Snoop Dogg held things down and, for a while, it looked as if Xzibit and Knoc-turn’al would be the ones to turn things around.

In 2005, Game made his official solo debut and went on to have a highly-successful career. Alongside Snoop Dogg, Game helped Kendrick Lamar get in with Dr. Dre, leading to his signing with Aftermath. Back in October, Kendrick Lamar released his official debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city.

Rap-Up TV spoke with Kendrick Lamar backstage at Power 106’s Cali Christmas 2012 and he spoke about his collaboration with Dido. The world probably knows Dido best for her chorus on Eminem’s “Stan.” Kendrick Lamar also discussed his favorite album of 2012, giving it up to Nas for Life is Good.
