By now, generally everyone in the hip hop world is well aware of who Kendrick Lamar is. Those who want more of the “real hip hop” are getting strong doses of it in the form of K. Dot. Rapping since the age of sixteen and putting local label, Top Dawg Entertainment, on the map, Kendrick Lamar has caught the attention of many West Coast legends. A young, up and coming, emcee Kendrick Lamar is preparing to become one of hip hop’s next central figures.
The West Coast, particularly the Los Angeles hip hop scene, had been stagnant for some time, with former Aftermath artist, Game, being the only breakthrough artist in over a decade. Kendrick Lamar has since led a wave of new artists from Los Angeles rising to stardom. Since Dr. Dre has signed the young rapper to a joint venture with Aftermath, leading Interscope Records to sign the entire roster of Lamar’s initial label, Top Dawg, everyone is paying attention.
Recently, Kendrick Lamar sat down for an interview with Hypetrack TV and he spoke on his overall goals, his thoughs about Tupac Shakur, and the impact he wants to have in Compton when it is all said and done.
