Kanye West’s “Donda” Album, To Have Biggest Number One Debut of 2021, Passing Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour”

Kanye West has been winning big, with the release of his 10th studio album, “Donda.” This project was delayed three times over the past month, but was finally delivered, on Sunday. This album contains huge collabs from Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, and more.

Donda is expected to be the number one album in the US this week, and the sales projections continue to increase. According to Chart Data, Donda is on pace to sell 350,000 units in its first week.

This number debut on the Billboard 200 chart would beat out Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour,” as the biggest debut of 2021. This was Rodrigo’s debut album, and was released in May. It was led by her breakout hit single, “Drivers License.”

Kanye was also rumored to put out Donda on the same day as Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy,” but that didn’t end up happening. Ye is now on his way to having his ninth consecutive number one album of his career. This is all after Donda was initially supposed to be out in July 2020.
