The 63rd annual Grammy awards are going down in Los Angeles tonight as the first batch of awards are being handed out at the premiere ceremony right now. This is being hosted by Jhené Aiko. One of the awards just announced is for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

This award went to Kanye West for his Christian-inspired 2019 album, “Jesus Is King.” This project did very well as it ended up debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This was West’s ninth studio album as it went on to be certified gold by the RIAA in the US.

Jesus Is King contained 11 tracks in total with features from Ty Dolla $ign, Ant Clemons and the Sunday Service Church Choir he performs with. The lead singles were “Follow God” and “Closed On Sunday.”

Fans of West have since been waiting for his “Donda” album to be released but in the meantime, they will definitely celebrate this huge Grammy win. It’ll be interesting if Ye decides to create more Christian albums such as Jesus Is King.
