Kanye West to perform MTV Unplugged

Once he stepped out of the shadows and officially picked up the microphone, Kanye West gave his fans a treat, delivering classic songs and controversial statements. Kanye West first gained fame as a member of Roc-A-Fella Records, Jay-Z’s lyrical right-hand-man. When Jay-Z “retired,” it was Kanye West who continued to deliver platinum plaques and he did so even after Jay-Z returned to the rap game.

Unretired, Jay-Z does not deliver albums as frequently as he did, earlier in his career. For a while, some felt Kanye West had picked up the torch, but his outburst at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards put a damper on things. In the time since then, Kanye West has not be as accessible as he once was. Kanye West has become almost as abscent from the game as Jay-Z, briefly returning to deliver Watch the Throne.

Relations between Kanye West and MTV have been tense in the past, but they are now on good terms. Continuing to follow in the footsteps of Jay-Z, Kanye West will reportedly be performing his MTV Unplugged session. This May, he is rumored to perform many of his hit singles on the “Unplugged” stage.
