Kanye West continues to win big in the fashion world. His Yeezy sneakers and slides post big numbers with every release, and recently launched the first item from his collaboration with Gap, which was a blue, zipper-less jacket.
Now, Ye is taking legal action against Walmart, due to them selling a pair of what looks to be Yeezy knockoff sneakers. These are the unique foam sneakers, that have been very popular. Court documents obtained by TMZ state that Walmart copied the Yeezy Foam Runner.
These shoes were listed on Walmart’s website for $24. Kanye cites that Walmart could force him to miss out on a significant amount of money, due to the knockoff. The original shoes were released in June 2020, at $75. Ye and his legal team are now suing for damages, after sending a notice, as the shoes weren’t taken down.
Walmart has since spoken out regarding this situation. They claim that the shoes were sold by a third-party seller. They are reviewing this claim at the moment.
“The product referenced in the complaint is not sold by Walmart, but rather by third party Marketplace sellers. We take allegations like this seriously and are reviewing the claim. We will respond in court as appropriate after we have been served with the complaint.”
