In the eyes of most, Jussie Smollett is a newcomer, but he has actually been around for close to three decades. The “Empire” star did rise to incredible amounts of fame in 2015, obviously, though. But, he and his siblings once had their own sitcom.

Jussie Smollett came out of the closet, towards the end of “Empire” season one. This was considered a major moment, since Jussie’s character, that season was a closeted gay man. Early in season one, he came out, publicly.

Since coming out, Jussie Smollett has had nothing but tremendous support from fans. However, while visiting a Chicago Subway, the popular actor ran into some non-supporters who ended up attacking him, leaving him hospitalized. Now, Twitter has the likes of Cory Booker, Iyanla Vanzant, and many other fans speaking out in support of him.
