Even though he is getting credit as a new artist, Juicy J is a veteran and most hip hop heads know this. Three 6 Mafia is where Juicy J built his name, but the group has been inactive over the past few years. Juicy J has been dropping solo mixtapes over the past few years, some of which caught Wiz Khalifa’s attention.
In 2011, Wiz Khalifa made the power move to add Juicy J as an artist an A&R for his label, Taylor Gang. Last year, Juicy J continued his mixtape run and he recorded the infectious hit, “Bands a Make Her Dance,” which became a breakout hit. Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz ended up jumping on the record, adding more life to it.
Early this morning, Juicy J stopped by DJ Self’s radio show on Power 105.1. Sitting down with DJ Self, Juicy J held an entertaining conversation about his upcoming album, Stay Trippy. For those who missed it, Juicy J will release Stay Trippy on August 27.
