Judge rejects request to reduce Isaiah Lee’s $30,000 bail, after tackling Dave Chappelle

Isaiah Lee denied request for reduced bail in Dave Chappelle case

Last week, Dave Chappelle went viral, after being tackled, in the middle of his stand-up show. That was while at the Hollywood Bowl, in Los Angeles. The suspect was 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, who went on to be tackled by venue security, as Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes also joined in. Lee’s arm was visibly injured as well, while being placed in an ambulance.

Lee ended up being charged with four misdemeanors, and a $30,000 bond was set. The charges were battery, possession of a weapon with intent to assault, unauthorized access to the stage area during a performance, and commission of an act that delays the event or interferes with the performer. Lee also possessed a replica gun, with a knife that was attached to the barrel.

Lee returned to court on Tuesday, where his request to get his bail reduced, was denied, according to NBC 4 Los Angeles. This also applied to be released on his own recognizance. Should Lee ever post bail, he would have to stay 100 feet away from Chappelle, or any venue he performs at.

Lee plead not guilty to his charges, and faces 18 months in a county jail. He is likely to not get this amount though. Lee’s next hearing will take place on May 20.
