Controversial and “ruthless,” Jerry Heller is the man who helped Eazy-E form Ruthless Records and build an empire. Prior to, Eazy-E made noise with NWA, alongside Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. The addition of Jerry Heller led to the departure of Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.
Business dealings infuriated Ice Cube and later Dr. Dre, leading to both having beef with Eazy-E and Jerry Heller. While neither returned to NWA and Ruthless Records, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube made peace with Eazy-E. His illness and him being a friend led to them making peace.
The same could not be said, however, about them and Jerry Heller, as they blamed him for the group falling apart. But, Dr. Dre has found his way to mogul status and is on the verge of becoming hip hop’s first billionaire and one of his ventures is the NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, alongside Ice Cube. Recently, a fan on Facebook asked Jerry Heller if he authorized the film after seeing the trailer and he said no.
