Some NBA players don’t get the props they deserve, Jermaine O’Neal being one of them. There was another O’Neal, of no relation, who was winning championships, while J.O. was still figuring it out. Overall, he wasn’t the franchise player that guys like LeBron were, but he got it in.

Jermaine O’Neal was never supposed to be a number one option on a contending team, but he took the reigns of the Pacers from legend, Reggie Miller, in 2003. That year, he led Indiana to their best record ever. But, they lost to the Detroit Pistons, in the conference finals.

That series started an intense rivalry between the Pacers and Pistons, cut short by the Malice in the Palace. A late-game foul by Ron Artest on physical Pistons’ center, Ben Wallace, led to a brawl, which went onto include Pistons’ fans. Stephen Jackson was in the fight and Jermaine O’Neal took on a fan, with his infamous punch dominating Twitter, this morning, on the fifteenth anniversary of the fight.
