Jeezy Signs New Deal With Def Jam and Earns Senior Advisor for A&R and Artist Development Position

Jeezy has a big week coming up for himself as fans await for his Verzuz battle with fellow Atlanta, legend, T.I., on November 19. This will kick off season 2 of Verzuz. The following day, the Snowman will release the sequel to his classic 2008 ‘The Recession’ album.

Jeezy released his ‘Twenty/20 Pyrex Vision’ EP in March and now he is back with Def Jam with a new deal which includes serving a key executive role. According to Billboard, Jeezy will be the Senior Advisor for A&R and Artist Development. Here, he will be working with interim chairman and CEO, Jeff Harleston.

“It’s an honor to return to the label I’ve called home for 15 years, not only as an artist but as an executive,” Jeezy said to Billboard. “I spent most of my career learning from trial and error. I am happy to say that I am back on the team that helped me build my legacy from the streets to the boardroom and nothing makes me more fulfilled than being in a position to help guide and add value to the next generation.”

Harleston also had high praise for Jeezy as he noted his traits such as his music talents, leadership and entrepreneurship. He also added that Jeezy is family, as he’s been signed to Def Jam since 2005.

“Jeezy is so meaningful to Def Jam; it’s legacy, it’s past, present and future. Jeezy has always impressed me with his talent, his tenacity, his instincts, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his leadership. I’m a huge believer in trusting, supporting, and enfranchising artists and bringing them into the process. But of course, Jeezy is so much more than an artist. He is family.”
