There sadly continues to be so much social injustices in America to this day such as racism and police brutality. The country is still protesting the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis PD last week and also demand justice for Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
The preliminary hearing that decided if Gregory McMichael, his son Travis McMichael and William “Roddie” Bryan Jr. would head to court took place on Thursday and that did end up happening. S. Lee Merritt represents the Arbery family as their attorney and he went to the hearing in style.
Jay Z has been huge in the fight for justice lately as his latest gesture came with putting Merritt on a private jet to get to the hearing. Merritt was seen relaxing in his seat on the jet while handling business on his laptop.
“When you absolutely have to be in Court to stand with your client and righteous protestors for justice…Jay Z sends his private jet,” said Merritt. “That’s part of the P.P.E plan to get us out of this Crisis (People Power Political Power Economic Power)”
These three white supremacists all chased down Arbery on February 23 believing that he was breaking into homes. This was after they made false claims that there were a series of break-ins in the neighborhood. Gregory and Travis McMichael are father and son and they instigated the confrontation with Arbery which led to him being shot. Bryan Jr was the one who recorded the incident.
Jay Z has also been in close communication with Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, demanding justice for George Floyd. He approved of the move to have Keith Ellison as the state’s attorney general. All four officers involved in Floyd’s murder have all been arrested and charged as of Wednesday. Derek Chauvin, the officer who had his knee on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds, had his third-degree murder charged upgraded to second.
