Though most have forgotten, it was actually Jay Rock who introduced the “New West” to the rap game. Offended by the words of a West Coast legend, Jay Rock took him on with fearless abandon. Instantly, Top Dawg Entertainment introduced themselves to the mainstream hip hop world.

Kendrick Lamar is now the focal point of the TDE movement. Behind Kendrick Lamar, there is ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and then Jay Rock. Even in 2011, Jay Rock was the one who kick-started the movement. Now, the foursome continues to represent for the label and they make up the Black Hippy collective.

Recently, Jay Rock talked to Young Jack Thriller from ThisIs50.com. In this interview, Jay Rock spoke on a wide number of topics, mainly about the crew of which he is a member of. Jay Rock also spoke on remaining friendly and the movement that is Black Hippy.
