A decade ago, Jason Kidd reached new heights in his career out of nowhere. Everybody should remember Nelly’s line, “I’m just kiddin’ like Jason.” Included on his “Hot in Herre” single, Jason Kidd appeared in the 2002 NBA Finals the same summer the song came out and dominated radio.
Jason Kidd made it to back-to-back NBA Finals, coming up short twice. But, Jason Kidd remained a fixture in the NBA. Playing his early years with the Dallas Mavericks, Kidd became co-Rookie of the Year with fellow retiree, Grant Hill. Kidd later spent five seasons with the Phoenix Suns and played his most-notable years with the Nets.
In 2008, Jason Kidd was shockingly traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he would win his first NBA championship in 2011. After a disappointing 2012 season, Jason Kidd returned to the tri-state area, signing with the New York Knicks where they also disappointed in the playoffs and now Kidd is calling it quits after nineteen years in the NBA.
