Since 2015, Janet Jackson has been more front-and-center than she had been in years. Following the release of her 2008 album, Janet went on an indefinite hiatus. However, she broke this streak, in 2015, when she dropped “No Sleeep,” featuring J. Cole.
Janet Jackson would proceed to go on tour, but she quit, during the middle of the tour. Abruptly, Janet Jackson revealed she was pregnant and had to stop. When she gave birth to her child, Janet returned to her tour.
Now, Essence has Janet Jackson for their annual award ceremony. In her appearance, Janet was brought along to surprise Missy Elliott by presenting to her. She presented Missy Elliott with the Black Women In Music award.
