Throughout the mid-1990s until the early 2010s, hip hop’s biggest executives were James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond and Chris Lighty. Combined, the two men managed over half of the biggest names in urban entertainment. For the entirety of their careers, Jimmy Henchman and Chris Lighty were rivals, as they competed for clients and deals.

The rivalry between Jimmy Henchman and Chris Lighty could have become more personal, had things not been handled differently. Jimmy Henchman was the manager of Game, at the time a rising rapper from Los Angeles, working with 50 Cent. Chris Lighty had recently began managing 50 Cent at the expense of hip hop superstar, Ja Rule.

Jimmy Henchman and Chris Lighty would manage Game and 50 Cent from the height of their feud, down to the cartoon it would become. Last summer, Jimmy Henchman was arrested for his role as the head of an organized crime ring responsible for distributing cocaine and murdering a 50 Cent associate. Last week, Chris Lighty would shock the world with his death, which has united enemies.

From prison, Jimmy Henchman released a statement via AllHipHop.com “Chris, you were my peer in business and in life. We learned the game together. You will be missed.”
