There was never any question to the amount of power James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond held in the urban entertainment market. However, no one guessed he was the head of a criminal enterprise, accused of running a multimillion dollar idea and being behind the shooting of Tupac Shakur in 1994. Through it all, the mogul enjoyed much success managing some of the most-popular entertainers in the game.
James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond evaded law enforcement for an entire summer, before being arrested in New York City. In the time since then, Rosemond has been behind bars, denying the charges against him, calling them lies. Two days ago, the trial began, as Jimmy Henchman has been charged as the leader of a $10 million drug ring, heading the operation from 2007 through 2011.
Former Los Angeles Times journalist, Chuck Phillips, has written about Henchman in the past, laying the blame of Tupac Shakur’s 1994 shooting upon him. After filing a suit against the Times, Phillips was fired and Henchman was paid $250,000 in the settlement, but it did not hinder the drug charges against him. Phillips was called as a witness by Henchman’s legal defense team only to be ordered out of the courtroom by them, something Phillips said they did to keep him from reporting about the trial.
Yesterday was the first time Chuck Phillips and Jimmy Henchman met face-to-face.
