Last week, J. Cole finally released his highly anticipated “The Off-Season” album. This project was lead by the records “Interlude” and “The Climb Back.” Many expected this album to have no features as usual but this time, Cole enlisted some heavy-hitters. These include 21 Savage, Lil Baby, 6LACK, breakout Fayetteville rapper, Morray, and more.
It was reported after The Off-Season’s release that it would be heading for a number one debut on the Billboard 200 chart and become Cole’s sixth consecutive number one album. This is now official. According to Chart Data, The Off-Season is number one with 288,000 units.
With The Off-Season going number one, this makes every Cole’s album in his career debuting at the top. At number two on the Billboard 200, Nicki’s “Beam Me Up Scotty” mixtape is at 79,000 units. The third spot goes to Moneybagg Yo’s “A Gangsta’s Pain,” with 57,000 units.
The Off-Season also marks three projects released by Cole since 2018 and his first solo album since then. The other project released in this span was “The Revenge Of The Dreamers III,” with his Dreamville record label. In 2021, many believe that he may put out his “The Fall-Off” album as well.
