Most credit J. Cole with reintroducing North Carolina to the hip hop world. Originally, the state’s hip hop scene was introduced by Petey Pablo. But, there had been a good seven year gap in his last major album and J. Cole’s debut, which many felt was long overdue.
J. Cole has since established himself among the other major new stars in the hip hop industry. As the protege of Jay-Z, has redefined what people think of a rapper, as his lyrics are more intellectual than thug-inspired. But, J. Cole always had an edge about him where he could potentially go that route.
Recently, J. Cole was in Atlanta for the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, which will soon impact television. Photos from the festivities are still hitting the internet and the latest one is of J. Cole. In the photo, J. Cole seems to be throwing up a symbol associated with the Crips gang.
