Irv Gotti talks Jay Z, Dame Dash, and Lyor Cohen not believing in DMX with Complex [VIDEO]

Irv Gotti was instrumental in Roc-A-Fella Records securing their deal with Def Jam. Early on, Irv Gotti won Lyor Cohen over and his success led to the emergence of his own label. This label spawned countless hits for Ja Rule and Ashanti.

Recently, Irv Gotti sat down with Complex and he talked about when he pitched DMX to Def Jam. During the interview, he had some surprising news, Jay Z, Dame Dash, and Lyor Cohen were not convinced about DMX and did not believe in him. Irv Gotti said it was not until “Get At Me Dog” that they bought in.
