The late 1990s into the early 2000s were a prosperous time for the hip hop industry. This era saw the birth of many boutique labels, among them Murder Inc., ran by Irv Gotti. While most rarely give them credit for it, the run Murder Inc. had was memorable.
Ja Rule became the biggest rapper in the game and scored many radio hits from 2000 through 2004. But, it was in 2004-2005, when things fell apart for Murder Inc. Since 2007, Irv Gotti has played more of a consultant role, helping Drake and Nicki Minaj, among others.
Another notable female in the industry that Irv Gotti is working with is Iggy Azalea, which answers questions as to why T.I. was posting private jet photos with Irv on Instagram. Through a series of Instagram posts, Irv Gotti revealed the role he played in Iggy Azalea’s new campaign with Steve Madden. It was another major business move Irv Gotti has pulled off.
