HHV Exclusive: Melanie Fiona talks women empowerment, Toni Braxton, and SWV at the Soul Train Awards

Eight years ago, Melanie Fiona established herself as one of the brightest rising stars in music. At a time when R&B needed new blood, Melanie Fiona delivered “It Kills Me,” one of fall 2009’s biggest hits. She ended up being the first in a wave for Toronto music.

Melanie Fiona had strong success with her debut album. However, when she returned with The MF Life, in 2012, that didn’t perform as well as her debut album. Currently, Melanie Fiona is preparing the release of her new album, Next Train, due next year.

On the Soul Train Awards red carpet, Hip-HopVibe.com got the chance to talk to Melanie Fiona. Talking to EJ, Melanie Fiona discussed women empowerment. With the awards honoring Toni Braxton and SWV, she also discussed some of her favorite tracks from Toni Braxton and SWV.
