HHV Exclusive (Behind The Lens): David Camarena speaks on filming music videos for the majors

David CamarenaBy DJ YRS Jerzy
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

This week was a busy one for Hip Hop Vibe, there were HHV Exclusives all over the place. No day or time is safe of an HHV Exclusive, though, even a Saturday night may see Hip Hop Vibe drop an exclusive. David Camarena, the man behind several music videos from HBK Gang and Taylor Gang gave us attention this week.

David Camarena is a native of the Bay Area, but his visuals are known all over the world. Playing a game of chance and winning, David Camarena travels the world with some of hip hop’s biggest stars. It all started because David Camarena simply wanted to be a part of the music industry.

Earlier this week, David Camarena took the time out to talk to Hip Hop Vibe and he explained his rise. It’s amazing the type of things that happen when people actually pursue their dreams. Arguably, David Camarena is living out a better dream than his orignal goals.

Read the entire interview below:

What led you to do video work? Actually, I used to play baseball and football
and I injured my elbow, and thats how I got into making videos.

Are you amazed at how you went from doing that to doing all of these big videos? Yeah. It’s so crazy man, I never thought it would get this big. I used to just do this with my friends and then I got better and more doors opened for me. After everything changed, I put all my focus on video work and everything fell into place.

Being from the Bay Area, how do you feel about the HBK Gang and working with them? Man, it’s crazy. They really inspire me, I used to listen to them back when I was in high school. Two years ago, I met them at a show in San Diego and I showed them some of my videos. They are cool ass people who reminded me of my own friends and I became a part of their crew, shooting videos.

You also shoot for Taylor Gang, can you explain how that came together? I shot a show video for Roach Gigz and Berner was at the show. After seeing the video, Berner hit me up and said we needed to work. We did start working and he linked me up with Wiz Khalifa and the rest is history.

Where can we find you onFacebook, Twitter, and Instagram? @DavidCamarenaFilm and I have a Facebook, David Camarena Film.
