H.E.R. Reportedly Finalizing Deal, to Make Her Acting Debut in New “The Color Purple” Musical, Set to Be Released in December 2023

H.E.R. has been one of the best artists in the world, over the last three years. She’s dominated in R&B, especially in 2021. The Bay Area native has won two Grammys, as well as an Oscar, for Best Original Song in “Fight For You,” in the “Judas and The Black Messiah” film.

H.E.R. also released her highly anticipated debut studio album, “Back Of My Mind,” in June. The Back Of My Mind Tour is kicking off this fall as well, starting with her performance at the OneMusic Fest in Atlanta.

Now, H.E.R. is beginning to get into the acting world as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will be making her acting debut, in “The Color Purple” musical. This is based on the classic 1982 book, and 1985 film.

Warner Bros will be handling this The Color Purple film, Blitz Bazawule is the director, and Marcus Gardley is responsible for screenplay. H.E.R. will be playing the role of Squeak, who is a waitress, who has dreams of becoming a singer.

THR also stated that The Color Purple is in pre-production. Oprah Winfey’s Harpo Films banner and Steven Speilberg’s Amblin Entertainment will be taking on the production for this project. H.E.R. is also reportedly going to work on an original song for The Color Purple. The film currently has a release date of December 20, 2023.
