Over the course of his career, Gunplay has found himself a bit of a controversy king. In 2009, Gunplay rose to fame when Rick Ross shouted him out on “Magnificent,” which features John Legend. During this period of time, Rick Ross was embroiled in his feud with 50 Cent and Gunplay was a scene-stealer.

In 2010, Gunplay continued to back Rick Ross up. When Rick Ross expanded his record label, Maybach Music, Gunplay voiced his support. With the label revamp, Rick Ross’ new artists were signed to Warner Bros. Records. Since then, Gunplay cut his own niche out in the game.

After his fights with Young Jeezy’s camp at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, Gunplay was arrested reportedly for armed robbery. Out and under house arrest, Gunplay spoke out on the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. Gunplay posted on Twitter that he feels it is a government conspiracy to push the gun control law.
