For ten years, Game has been signed to Interscope Records, becoming one of their reliable high-selling artists. When he initially signed with Aftermath/Interscope in 2002, Game signed on for five albums. Even after the G-Unit dispute, which led to him leaving Aftermath for Geffen Records, another Interscope Records subsidiary, Game was still under the same deal, owing Geffen three albums.

In the months leading up to the release of The R.E.D. Album, Game began discussing his next potential label home. With Cash Money Records signing more artists, Game said he would consider signing there, establishing a deal for his Black Wall Street label also, under the label. The statement made by Game was misunderstood, many thinking he signed with Cash Money Records. Game cleared those rumors, saying he was still on Interscope, but owed one more album following R.E.D.

Game is not letting much time pass between the releases of his fourth and fifth albums, already in the studio recording F.I.V.E. (Fear is Victory’s Evolution). During a recent conversation with MTV News, Game discussed possibly leaving Interscope Records. Instead of Cash Money Records, Game revealed he was considering going independent, as many artists are having success without the backing of a major record label. However, Game went on to say he does like the help that comes from working with a major label.
