In Baton Rouge, there is a celebration going on. A nightmare became reality for Lil’ Boosie, two years ago, when he was arrested for the murder of Terry Boyd, an uncle to one of his children. During the fall of 2009, Terry Boyd was murdered and it was said to be under the orders of the rising rapper. In a span of three years, Lil’ Boosie had risen to become a relatively popular rapper and was preparing for the spotlight.
With his popularity at an all-time high, Lil’ Boosie was arrested and then accused of paying a seventeen year old, Michael Louding, $2,800 to murder Terry Boyd. Only months earlier, Boyd was released from prison and was said to have robbed a friend of Boosie’s, thus leading to his execution. It was a painful story, due to Terry Boyd being related to one of Lil Boosie’s children and because Boosie was on the brink of becoming one of the most-popular rappers in the game.
Two years of waiting behind bars, Lil’ Boosie finally made it to trial and the evidence against him soon proved he had no involvement in the murder of Terry Boyd. After five days of deliberation, Lil’ Boosie’s legal defense rested its case, with the alleged hitman revealing he was forced by the police to confess to murdering Boyd under Boosie’s orders. Only eighteen, at the time, the young man was pressured by law enforcement. Once the full tape of Michael Louding’s confession was played, it was revealed he was telling the truth.
For Lil’ Boosie, the celebration can begin as he is a free man. Before going to jail, Lil’ Boosie revealed he had a new album in the works, which would solidify his position in the rap game. However, since his time away, the game has changed, but the demand for Lil’ Boosie is still there. Perhaps the year of 2012, which has been another interesting year for hip hop, will include a new album from Lil’ Boosie, as he has been forced into irrelevance for two years.
