Never has a show debuted and grown the way “Empire” did in only eleven airings. This was enough for the world to get hooked on Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson reuniting. They play the divorced power couple, which is Lucious and Cookie, the head of “Empire” entertainment.

Created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, “Empire” is clearly inspired by such soaps as “Dallas” and “The Young and The Restless.” The success of “Empire” showed that soaps can thrive in 2015. Following “Empire’s” initial success, the show is already inspiring others.

Recently, Columbus Short revealed he was working on a new primetime soap opera for Bounce TV. This show is openly inspired by “Empire,” but there will be key differences. Among them is that this currently unnamed show is based on Gospel music.
