Footage is released from 2018, where DaBaby is seen as the aggressor in a fight, that led to him shooting and killing Jaylin Craig, at a North Carolina Walmart

2018 footage shows DaBaby start confrontation with Jaylin Craig

DaBaby initially turned into a star back in early 2019, with the massive success of his “Suge” single. That record appeared on the Charlotte rapper’s debut studio album, “Baby On Baby.” Suge peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and is 4x platinum in the US. Baby on Baby also peaked at seven on the Billboard 200, and is at platinum status.

Months before this breakout year though, DaBaby was involved in a shooting at a Walmart, in the Charlotte area, in Huntersvilel. This involved an altercation with a man IDed as Jaylin Craig, who ended up being shot and killed, by DaBaby.

In new footage released by Rolling Stone on Sunday night, it displays DaBaby as the one who initiated the confrontation. At the time, DaBaby was with his girlfriend, and children. Baby also initially claimed that this situation went down, as a result of self-defense, where he said two men approached him, and threatened him with a gun. This new footage has leaked though, and appears to show self-defense was not the case.

Craig ended up appearing to brandish his own gun on his waist, but didn’t end up shooting it. DaBaby soon brandished his, which resulted in shots being fired, and Craig losing his life, in his late teens. DaBaby also punched Craig’s friend, Henry Douglas. Craig even attempted to break up the fight that ensued between DaBaby and Douglas.

DaBaby ended up being convicted in June 2019, of carrying a concealed weapon. He got hit with 12 months of probation, and a suspended jail sentence. DaBaby has gotten into plenty of confrontations since the fame, including fighting his own artist, Wisdom. That occurred last week, in the backstage area of a Spring Jam concert.
