Very eccentric he is, but Flavor Flav made a name for himself in the 21st Century, when many had written him off as a laughable figure of 1990s hip hop. Flavor Flav found a new career in reality television with help from VH1. Cast on the second season of “The Surreal Life,” Flavor Flav soon began a relationship with fellow castmember, Brigette Nielsen.

Their surprising relationship led to their own spin-off show, “Strange Love.” The series ran an additional two seasons before Nielsen left Flavor Flav for another man. “Heartbroken,” VH1 offered Flavor Flav another chance to find love. Women from all over the United States, and abroad, were cast for “Flavor of Love.”

Three seasons of “Flavor of Love” lasted before the show was finally cancelled. In the end, Flavor Flav found love in the hands of a woman he met in between seasons. The two were engaged and had a baby. VH1 has continued to use the dating format, launching several spin-off shows, meanwhile Flavor Flav seemingly rode off into the sunset.

Flavor Flav returned to the public eye last summer, with the announcement of the opening of his restaurant. Things did not go as planned, however, and a lawsuit ended up being filed. As his run on reality television has shown, Flavor Flav is not a man who gives up easily. The Public Enemy rapper has teamed up with acclaimed businessman, Farrah Gray, and is opening up a “House of Flavor” restaurant in Las Vegas.
