Ultimately, New York City’s hip hop scene was brought back to the forefront by A$AP Rocky and French Montana. The success of these two rappers placed New York City back in the spotlight, as it originally was. There have been several other rappers to have success behind these two rappers and there have been several comebacks.

Fabolous staged his comeback in November, releasing his new mixtape The S.O.U.L. Tape 2, which gained strong critical reviews. Juelz Santana and Vado have also been strong on comeback runs. But, Fabolous has appointed himself the leader of this hip hop scene and his takeover starts with Loso’s Way 2.

XXL caught up with Fabolous yesterday and the discussion centered upon his upcoming sixth studio album. Fabolous talked about how far he has come from his 2001 debut and the new energy in New York hip hop. Explaining French Montana and Action Bronson, Fabolous stated they bring a different element to New York’s hip hop scene.
