Longtime Fabolous fans know, in the early part of his career, there were two versions of him. On one side, there was the mainstream version, and then there was his hardcore side. When mixtapes became the thing, Fabolous really flexed his hardcore, lyrical, side.

As the mainstream went through major upheaval, Fabolous took his hardcore mixtapes mainstream. He was one of the first rappers to reach top five status without mainstream looks, despite being signed. This led to his mixtapes being released as albums, ending the long delays.

Fabolous recently visited LA’s Power 106, where he spoke to DJ Felli Fel about this. He discussed the evolution of hip hop and the current president, Donald Trump, his fellow New Yorker. During the interview, he also spoke on streaming vs. radio, something he has truly capitalized on.
